The climate of the Philippines is distinguished by having relatively high temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall. This is a reason why chilled drinks are well-liked and popular. There are some commonly known variations of drinks in the Pinoy Cuisine. Pandan iced tea made is made with pandan leaves and lemongrass. Salabat, sometimes called ginger tea, is brewed from ginger root. There is also coffee. Coffee from the cool mountains of Batangas is known as kapeng barako. Tsokolate is the Filipino take on hot chocolate. It is traditionally made from dry powdery chocolate tablets called tablea.
